Credit Unions

People helping people

Credit Unions are mutual savings and loans societies. Membership is based on a ‘common bond’, something which links members together. Our common bond is that members either live or work in Calderdale and Kirklees.

Our Ethos

Calderdale Credit Union Ltd is passionate about the encouragement of savings for its members, staff are trained to point out the benefits of personal savings. We believe that starting to save is the first step towards lifestyle changes that can improve the health and welfare of the family, and improve future opportunities for the young.

We know that there is a dignity in having personal savings, which increases self-respect and esteem. Seeing savings grow is not only satisfying, but it is also a testament to a person’s willingness to learn to manage to live within their means and look beyond instant gratification.

We believe in the idea of educating our members to manage their income properly, to learn to borrow money responsibly, and to understand their commitment to repayment of loans.
